Charge nurse Sujeewa Pathirana is Maryville’s Employee of the Month for October 2017.
Sujeewa earned her nursing degree in her native Sri Lanka. She came to the United States in 2007 and joined Maryville’s staff about three years ago.
She and her husband, Jeevan, have two children. Their daughter, Hansani, is 17. Their son, Methum, is 15.
When she is not at work, Sujeewa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and spending time in the outdoors and seeing movies.
She says she likes working at Maryville because of the residents and staff. “It’s like being with another family,” she said.
Resident Care Manager Shalane Free said, “Sujeewa has grown tremendously in her role as charge nurse. She is resident-centered and great with her staff. We are lucky to have her.”
