Island Hospital September Employee of the Month - Congratulations Kathy :)

Island Hospital’s September 2017 Employee of the Month is Nursing Education Coordinator Kathy Corrion RN.

Kathy has a passion for nursing education. She exudes excitement and enthusiasm when she talks about nursing at Island Hospital and about her desire to create a positive environment where nurses are encouraged to live up to their full potential. Kathy works diligently to provide education on new products, new procedures and topics requested by staff nurses. She is integral in the orientation and transition of nurses as well as certified nursing assistants and surgical scrub techs. Kathy is well known for her work and organizational skills in putting together and running a highly successful Annual Nursing Skills Day. This is a highlight for the nursing staff and Kathy works hard to make it a relevant and helpful day of learning. She has been instrumental in getting nurses involved in the teaching at the different stations which enhances their learning as well. Kathy is always willing to help out on a project or revising a policy, doing whatever she can to make sure our nursing staff is prepared and educated, ready to respond to whatever happens using evidence-based practices.

Since her arrival, Kathy has characterized Island Hospital’s Promise to consistently provide the best customer service to our patients, families, guests and colleagues. Congratulations and thanks for being an inspiration, Kathy!
